Chonburi and Rayong provinces, in Thailand.

Project Owner/s
Gulf SRC Company, which comprises Gulf Energy Development Public Company (70%) and Mitsui & Co (30%).

Project Description
The multiphase project entails the construction of two gas-fired combined-cycle power plants with a total generating capacity of 5 300 MW. 

The gas-fired power plant will be fuelled by natural gas, including imported liquefied natural gas, through the long-term gas sale agreement with PTT Public Company. The electricity will be sold to Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand over a 25-year period.

About ¥170-billion.

Planned Start/End Date
The Chonburi CCGT was fully completed in October 2022 and the Rayong CCGT was successfully completed in October 2024.

Latest Developments
Mitsubishi Power has completed the construction of the eighth and final M701JAC unit of the CCGT. 

The project successfully started full commercial operations on October 1, 2024.

Each plant is equipped with four M701JAC gas turbines, steam turbines and heat recovery steam generators, ensuring a reliable and sustainable energy supply that is critical for Thailand's energy security and economic growth. 

On October 1, the first seven units installed in Chonburi and Rayong collectively logged 100 000 actual operating hours (AOH), reinforcing their proven reliability.
